“The film podcast highlight of the summer” - Sight & Sound

Host Michael Leader (Writer for Little White Lies, Sight & Sound), a fanatic for all things Ghibli, delves into the history of some of the studio’s best loved work, whilst Jake Cunningham (The I, Sight & Sound), who has never seen any of the Studio’s work before, reacts to watching them for the first time.

Ghibliotheque's discussions have covered internationally acclaimed works including Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totoro and Princess Mononoke, along with deeper cuts from the studio’s work. In addition, there have been special guest appearances from Jonathan Ross and director of Ghibli’s The Red Turtle, Michael Dudok de Wit.

“It is, without fail, a thoroughly entertaining and informative listen” - Engadget

On release Ghibliotheque became the highest rated show in the UK Apple Podcasts Arts and TV & Film charts, as well as reaching 3rd in the national chart; and for Android users, Ghibliotheque’s popularity saw it reach 1st in the Pocketcasts app trending chart.

Outside of the recording studio, Ghibliotheque has hosted live podcasts at the British Museum, the British Film Institute, Green Man Festival and Latitude Festival. In 2019 the podcast travelled to Japan, where they were invited to the Studio Ghibli museum, spoke to Ghibli animators and to the Oscar nominated producers of Ghibli’s The Tale of The Princess Kaguya and When Marnie Was There.
